No commute in wintry mornings; no boss breathing down your neck; flexible schedule; reward for effort; control; work and family flexibility; not having to worry about being laid off; leaving the office politics way behind; not having to get dressed up; being with your children. These reasons are enough to make your business a success.

There are a few downsides to this new venture though. You have to be totally committed to make a success of your business. If what you want to do as a business is only a passing interest, your enthusiasm and motivation may wane over time. You must be absolutely committed to the success of your business if you are to achieve the success you desire.

One of the benefits of owning your own business is that you don’t have to answer to a boss. If you make a mistake or suffer a loss, it’s all on you. For this reason, you must be comfortable taking calculated risks. If security and stability are very important to you, maybe paid employment is a better option.

When you are your own boss it means exercising personal discipline to ensure that the work gets done. There will be no end of distractions to tempt you away from the task at hand when you’re working from home. You will need a healthy dose of self discipline to ensure you stay on task.

Patience is needed; starting a home-business is one thing; turning a profit is quite another. If your reasons are to get rich quick or work fewer hours, think again. A home-based business will definitely not deliver, get out now.

A Google search has hundres of companies that are turning to online marketing to move their products to the end consumer or customer. Having independent representatives or distributors can actually increase a company’s bottom line. Having a work force that works for free and only gets paid when they move product by recruiting other distributors or representatives is the plan at hand.

That’s right, aspiring business builders are required to purchase product. Although Work At Home business builders are encouraged to sell the product to customers, the biggest benefit is in getting business builders who will purchase a required amount of product every month. So, essentially, you end up with a base of people wanting to build a business and and does not care to purchase products.

Good for the company, but not so great for the person trying to build a work at home business. If you are one of those people purchasing product that you don’t really want or need, just because you want to Work At Home business, how long will you continue to purchase those products if you are not making any money? Home Business Idea #1; Wash and Fold

This home business is great because you can take a skill that you should already have, and then put it to good use to service people that do not have the skill, time, or the energy to do it. Offering a pick up and delivery laundry service means that you get someone’s clothes, wash and dry them, fold them, and then return the clothes to their house.

The only thing you will need for your home business is a washer, dryer and soap to wash the clothes. Be sure to check with your clients about any allergies or personal preferences. Some laundry companies require the client to provide their own laundry detergent for such reasons.

A great low cost way to advertise your home business is by placing inexpensive ads in Senior civic centers on Craigslist and in Penny Saver newspapers.

Home Business Idea #2: Alteration Service

This is another great home business that appeals especially to bachelors and elderly people. If you have basic sewing skills, you may want to consider starting an alteration service. The only out of pocket expense you will have here is your sewing supplies: various colors of thread, needles, and possibly a sewing machine if you are planning on taking on larger jobs.

Since your main focus for your home business will be clothing, you will want to advertise at local clothing shops, department stores, church and social organizaions or in local newspapers in the free classified sections. You may also want to consider talking with businesses that supply uniforms to employees and
offering them a bulk deal of some sort. The business can then recommend their employees to you if an alteration in their uniform is needed.
